Dental Lab

Manage your dental lab vendors and the items catalog: then track internal lab orders placed from the dentogram during Appointments.

What is the Dental Lab module?

The Dental Lab module is Cliops' internal system for coordinating prosthetic and restorative work with external dental labs. It has two parts:

1. Catalogs (Admin only): Manage the list of dental items (e.g. crowns, veneers) and lab vendors.
2. Lab Orders: Place and track orders against specific teeth during an appointment, directly from the dentogram.

Important: Lab and vendor information is strictly internal to the clinic. It never appears on prescriptions, patient-facing printouts, or the Medical History Timeline.

Who can use this?

Managing the Dental Items Catalog (Admin only)

The dental items catalog is the list of prosthetic/restorative items your clinic orders from labs (e.g. Crown, Veneer, Denture, Bridge).

Web App:

1. Go to Settings → Dental Items.
2. The catalog shows all items in a scrollable table.
3. Click Add Item → enter the item name and optional description → Save.
4. To edit an item, click the edit icon on its row.
5. To deactivate an item (not delete), toggle it to inactive: this removes it from the order selection without losing historical records.

Items cannot be permanently deleted if they are already used in existing lab orders. Use inactive instead.

Mobile App:

1. Open the side menu → Settings → Dental Items.
2. Tap + → enter the item name → Save.

Managing Dental Labs / Vendors (Admin only)

The vendors list is the roster of external labs your clinic works with.

Web App:

1. Go to Settings → Dental Labs.
2. Click Add Lab → fill in the lab details:

3. Click Save.
4. To deactivate a lab, toggle it to inactive: it will no longer appear in the dentogram order picker.

Mobile App:

1. Open side menu → Settings → Dental Labs.
2. Tap + → fill in details → Save.

Placing a Lab Order (Dentist / Admin)

Lab orders are placed from inside the dentogram during an appointment.

1. Open the dentogram for the patient (during an appointment).
2. Tap/click the tooth that requires lab work.
3. Switch to the Lab tab in the tooth panel.
4. Fill in:
   • Dental Item: search and select from the active catalog.
   • Dental Lab / Vendor: search and select from the active labs list.
   • Order Status: Pending / Ordered / Received / Cancelled.
   • Notes: optional internal notes about the order.
5. Tap/click Save.

The order is linked to the tooth, the patient, the Appointment, and the ordering doctor, with a timestamp.

Update the order status from the dentogram lab tab as the work progresses.

Viewing All Lab Orders

Web App (Two Ways):

1. Global Lab view: Click Lab in the left sidebar to view all lab orders across all patients, filterable by status and date.
2. Patient-specific view: Open a patient's profile → Click the Lab work button at the top to see all lab orders specifically for that patient.

Mobile App: Lab order history is viewable from within the dentogram per tooth.
