Prescriptions

Add medicines to a patient's Appointment, view the prescription, and generate a printable prescription for the patient.

What is a Prescription?

In Cliops, a prescription is a list of medicines added to a specific Appointment. Each medicine is a separate prescription line with its own dosage, frequency, duration, and instructions. All prescription lines together form the Appointment's prescription, which can be printed for the patient.

Saving Medicines to the Catalog

When adding a medicine, toggle Save to catalog to store it for future use. Next time you add a prescription, that medicine will appear in search results: reducing typing on repeated Appointments.

The medicine catalog is shared across all prescriptions in the clinic.

Prescription Templates (Admin only)

Prescription Templates let the Admin pre-define a set of medicines for common procedures: so the dentist can load the template in one click instead of adding each medicine manually every time.

What is a template?

A template is linked to a procedure name (e.g. "Root Canal", "Extraction", "Filling") and contains one or more pre-filled medicine lines with all dosage details filled in. Two types exist:

TypeDescription
System templatesPre-built for common dental procedures. Can be customised and reset to defaults.
Custom templatesCreated from scratch by the Admin for clinic-specific needs.

Setting up templates

Templates are set up by the Admin in Settings → Prescription Templates. See → Settings for full details.

Using a template when prescribing (Web App)

When adding a prescription during an appointment, templates appear as quick-select options. Select the template for the procedure being performed to auto-fill all medicine lines: review and adjust if needed before saving.

Viewing & Editing a Prescription

All medicines added to an appointment are listed as cards in the Prescriptions section. Each card shows:

  • Medicine name: Dosage, frequency, duration: Instructions

To delete a medicine line, tap/click the delete icon on the card and confirm. You can only delete from an open (non-closed) Appointment.

Printing the Prescription

Once medicines are added, you can generate a printable prescription.

  1. Inside the Appointment Prescriptions section, click Print.
  2. A print preview opens with:
    • Clinic letterhead (name, logo, address, doctor details)
    • Patient name, ID, age, gender, Appointment date: Medicine table (name, dosage, frequency, duration, instructions)
    • Doctor's name and qualifications
  3. Use your browser's print dialog to print or save as PDF.

Mobile App:

  1. Inside the Appointment, tap Print (next to the Prescription section heading)
    • or use the Print option from the Appointment action sheet.
  2. A prescription preview screen opens.
  3. Use the share/print option to send to a printer or save as PDF.

Letterhead: The clinic letterhead shown on the prescription is configured by the Admin in Settings → Clinic Settings → Letterhead. Make sure it is set up during onboarding.

Prescription in the Timeline

All prescriptions are automatically saved to the patient's Medical History Timeline and remain visible in past Appointment records. They are never deleted even after the Appointment is closed.
