Dentogram (Dental Chart)
View and update the patient's interactive FDI dental chart: record tooth findings, procedures, and lab orders per Appointment.
What is the Dentogram?
The Dentogram is Cliops' interactive FDI dental chart: a visual map of all the patient's teeth, colour-coded by their current status. It gives the dentist an instant overview of the patient's oral health and allows recording of tooth-level findings, procedures, and dental lab orders tied to each Appointment.
Every patient has one persistent dentogram that is updated with every Appointment. The full per-tooth clinical history is also available.

Chart Type: Adult vs Primary
Cliops automatically shows the correct chart based on the patient's age:
| Patient Age | Chart shown | Teeth |
|---|---|---|
| 12 and above | Adult chart | 32 teeth (FDI quadrants 1–4, numbers 11–48) |
| Under 12 | Primary (milk) chart | 20 teeth (FDI quadrants 5–8, numbers 51–85) |
Tooth Status: Color Legend
Each tooth is colour-coded to show its current clinical status:
| Status | What it means |

| 🟢 Healthy | No issues recorded |
| 🟡 Caries | Tooth decay present |
| 🔵 Filled | Tooth has a filling |
| 🔴 RCT | Root canal treated |

Opening the Dentogram
Web App:
- Open the Appointment → go to the Dentogram section.
Mobile App:
- Open the Appointment → scroll to Dentogram.
Recording a Finding or Procedure
Only Dentist and Admin can record clinical events on the chart.
- Tap / click a tooth on the chart to select it.
- A panel opens on the right (web) or slides up from the bottom (mobile).
- Choose the event type:
- Finding: record the current tooth status (e.g. Caries, Filled, Extracted).
- Procedure: record what was done today (e.g. Filling, Root Canal, Crown, Extraction).
- For a Finding: select the tooth status.
- For a Procedure: select the procedure type and optionally add a custom name.
- Add any notes about the tooth: or use the mic (🎙️) to dictate.
- Click/tap Save.
The tooth on the chart immediately updates its colour to reflect the new status.
Findings and procedures are recorded in the context of the current Appointment: so the per-tooth history always shows when each event happened and in which Appointment.
Procedure Types
| Procedure | Label |
|---|---|
examination | Examination |
filling | Filling |
rct | Root Canal (RCT) |
crown | Crown |
extraction | Extraction |
implant | Implant |

Viewing Per-Tooth History
Tap any tooth to see its clinical history: a chronological list of all findings and procedures recorded for that tooth across all Appointments. This helps the dentist track treatment progress over time.
Allergy Alerts
If a patient has allergies recorded on their profile, allergy warning pills appear in the clinical patient header on the dentogram page. Always review these before prescribing or performing procedures.
Dental Lab Orders (Admin / Dentist only)
From within the dentogram, you can also place internal lab orders for prosthetic work:
- Select a tooth → switch to the Lab tab in the tooth panel.
- Select the dental item (e.g. crown, veneer) from the active catalog.
- Select the dental lab / vendor.
- Set the order status: Pending / Ordered / Received / Cancelled.
- Add optional lab notes.
- Save the order.
Lab orders are internal only: they are never shown on prescriptions, patient timelines, or printed outputs. See Dental Lab for managing the lab catalog.
Tabs on the Dentogram Screen
| Tab | What it shows |
